How to Choose the Right Size of Wool Slippers?

How to Choose the Right Size of Wool Slippers?

Buying slippers online always comes with one important question: will they fit?

Your usual shoe size is a useful starting point, but sizing can vary between brands and models. The most reliable way to choose your Sheep Sisters slippers is to measure your feet in centimetres and compare the result with the recommendation for the exact model you would like to buy.

A sheet of paper, a pencil and a ruler are all you need.

Quick answer: Which slipper size should you choose?

Most Sheep Sisters models fit true to size. The exception is our Cloud Slippers, which have a more compact fit because the wool is sewn closely around the insole.

For example, if you normally wear EU size 38, we recommend:

  • Cloud Slippers: 39/40
  • Cloud Slip-Ons: 37/38
  • Cloud Ballerinas: 37/38

Your usual size is therefore a good reference, but always check the model-specific fit before ordering.

Sheep Sisters slipper size chart

All our slippers use the same standard insole sizes. However, the usable space inside the slipper may feel different because each model is sewn and shaped differently.

Sheep Sisters size Insole length
37/38 25.5 cm
39/40 26.5 cm
41/42 28 cm
43/44 29 cm
45/46 30.5 cm

The insole should be slightly longer than your foot. Your toes need enough space to rest naturally without pressing against the front of the slipper.

Please note that this chart is intended as a practical sizing guide. Foot shape, width, sock thickness and personal fit preferences can also affect which size feels most comfortable.

How do the Sheep Sisters slipper models fit?

Cloud Slippers

Cloud Slippers have a snugger, more enclosed fit. Because the wool is sewn closely around the insole, they feel smaller inside than our other models.

We generally recommend choosing one size group larger than your usual shoe size.

Cloud Slip-Ons

Cloud Slip-Ons have a more open shape and usually fit true to size.

Choose the size group that includes your normal shoe size.

Cloud Ballerinas

Cloud Ballerinas also usually fit true to size. Their shape holds the foot more closely than a traditional open slipper, but you normally do not need to size up.

Choose the size group that includes your usual shoe size.

How to measure your feet for slippers

Measure both feet and use the longer result. It is completely normal for one foot to be slightly larger than the other.

You will need:

  • a sheet of paper;
  • a pencil;
  • a ruler or measuring tape.

Step 1: Place the paper on a hard floor

Put a sheet of paper on a flat, firm surface.

A hard floor makes it easier to stand naturally and measure your foot accurately.

Step 2: Stand naturally

Place your foot on the paper and stand with your weight distributed normally.

If you usually wear socks with your slippers, put on a similar pair before measuring.

Step 3: Mark your heel and longest toe

Mark the furthest point of your heel.

Then mark the tip of your longest toe. Do not automatically measure to the big toe, as another toe may extend further.

Step 4: Measure the distance

Measure the straight distance between the heel mark and the longest-toe mark.

Repeat the process with your other foot and use the longer measurement.

For example:

Foot length: 26.1 cm

Recommended size:

  • Cloud Slippers: 43/44
  • Cloud Slip-Ons: 41/42
  • Cloud Ballerinas: 41/42

What should you do if you are between sizes?

If your foot measurement falls close to the upper limit of a size range, choose based on how you plan to wear your slippers.

Choose the larger size when:

  • you usually wear thick socks;
  • you have wide feet or a high instep;
  • you prefer more room around your toes;
  • your measurement is at the top of the recommended range.

Choose the smaller size when:

  • you wear your slippers barefoot or with thin socks;
  • your measurement is near the lower end of the range;
  • you prefer a closer fit.

Do not choose wool slippers deliberately tight in the hope that they will stretch significantly over time.

Should wool slippers fit tightly or loosely?

Wool slippers should feel secure, but they should not squeeze your feet.

Your toes should be able to rest naturally without curling or pressing against the front. The slippers should stay comfortably on your feet without feeling restrictive.

Slippers that are too small may experience unnecessary pressure at the front seam.

Will wool slippers stretch?

Our wool slippers do not stretch significantly.

The wool is naturally soft and fluffy. With wear, some of the fluff will flatten slightly, which can make the slippers feel a little roomier. However, this will not turn a slipper that is too small into the correct size.

It is therefore important to choose a comfortable fit from the beginning.

Can I wear wool slippers barefoot?

Yes. Merino wool is breathable, soft against the skin and naturally resistant to retaining odours, making it comfortable to wear barefoot.

You can wear your slippers:

  • barefoot;
  • with thin cotton socks;
  • with thick wool socks.

If you almost always wear socks at home, measure your feet while wearing a similar pair. This gives you the most realistic measurement.

Are Sheep Sisters slippers suitable for wide feet?

Foot width and instep height can also affect the fit.

Cloud Slippers have a more enclosed, compact shape, so customers with wide feet or a high instep may feel more comfortable in the larger size.

Cloud Slip-Ons have a more open construction and may feel roomier around the foot.

Cloud Ballerinas sit more closely around the foot, so the fit may feel more secure than an open slipper.

When in doubt, send us your foot length, usual shoe size and preferred model. We will be happy to recommend the best option.

The easiest way to find your slipper size

Here is the complete process:

  1. Put on the socks you normally wear with slippers.
  2. Stand on a sheet of paper.
  3. Mark your heel and longest toe.
  4. Measure the distance in centimetres.
  5. Repeat with the other foot.
  6. Use the longer measurement.
  7. Check the recommendation for your chosen Sheep Sisters model.
  8. Choose the larger size if you are near the upper limit or plan to wear thick socks.

A few minutes of measuring can remove much of the uncertainty from buying slippers online.
